Brighton resident Sarah McCarthy has spent much of lockdown making sure vulnerable neighbours and members of her local community had access to food.

Now Sarah, who is a Hyde Housing Association resident, has been named as a finalist in the Housing Quality Network (HQN) Frontline Stars awards. The awards recognise individuals who have gone the extra mile in helping their community during the Covid 19 crisis

Since the outbreak, Sarah, who is chair of the Phoenix Community Tenants and Residents Association, has worked tirelessly in supporting her neighbours by delivering food. She has been in the community handing out essential food items to neighbours who are struggling to make ends meet, as well as those who are having to shield or self-isolate. One resident said: “Without Sarah’s help, we wouldn’t have eaten today.”
