Horsham's Shelley Fountain discovered

The controversial sculpture was taken down by contractors in the early hours of Sunday morning (June 19).
Debbie Fitzpatrick, owner of Fitz n Pieces in Warnham, sent in this photo of the central globe of the Rising Universe statue which she discovered in Les Searle’s storage yard in Parsonage Road.

Hide AdHorsham District Council approved the removal of the iconic landmark in April.
It has cost in excess of £200,000 in repairs and maintenance since its installation in 1996.
Work to the site started on Wednesday, June 15, and was expected to last two-and-a-half weeks, costing about £40,000.
A new planting scheme is being created in the splash pool area with 16 new birch trees planted earlier this week.
